Marian Curtis became our curate July 2005. Three years on and sadly she has had to leave us and has taken up a new post in the church. She has chosen not to take on a parish but instead to minister in a hospital. She is to be the Chaplain at Salisbury Hospital. We wish her every success and happiness there and give great thanks for the tremendous contribution she has made, with Ian's loving support, at St Michael's.We have loved having her here and our joy that she has found just the job she wanted after her 3 years is tempered by knowing how much we are going to miss her and Ian. Here's a message from Salisbury: Thank you so much for those wonderful flowers sent to us - moving in was pretty chaotic so they were a very welcome encouragement. Thank you for making our last weekend so special. We will always have such happy memories of that, indeed of our whole time at St Michael's with the amazing warmth, welcome and support we received throughout. I have to say I thought of you all a very great deal last Sunday. I was licensed on Monday at 7.30am followed by breakfast with the Bishop and his wife, with the other 2 chaplains and Ian. That was very special. The rest of the day was a pretty taxing NHS induction day for 20 of us. As part of it I did 2 on-line training courses on manual handling and fire safety on computers that kept breaking down and though I passed the tests, at the end refused to recognise my pass! However, am greatly looking forward to my real job. House beginning to look better despite scaffolding, filth from the plastering never cleaned up etc! We hadn't realised quite how big it is - both of us had sore knees, hips and backs from so many trips humping things up and down stairs - 3 stories plus cellar so that from cellar to study feels like climbing Everest. Garden an amazing rambling jungle full of wonderfully perfumed roses and honeysuckle, and the 'conservatory' (if you can call it that) the same with jasmine. Learning to cook on the aga too! Many blessings to you all, Marian 2008
