Jonathan Croucher joins us in February 2008 as an honorary curate. He says
Yvette and I grew up, and met at school, in Essex. We are
both lawyers by training. Yvette works three days a week for an American
law firm, now doing training and pro bono work most of the time. Having
been a partner in my firm's employment practice, I moved into management
five years ago and am now "Practice Director" at Taylor Wessing - it's a
combination of the Director of HR role I have held for the last four
years and a general management role.
We have four children - Bethany who is seven, twins Nathaniel and
Benjamin who are five, and Isaac who is four. The three older children
are at All Saints school and Isaac is currently a part time intern at
the Montessori nursery behind St Margaret's. We have just about
survived having four children under three, although I have considerably
less, and greyer, hair than I did when we started.
I trained for ordination with the South East
Institute for Theological Education (SEITE), which is our local
non-residential training course. It draws ordinands from Southwark,
Rochester and Canterbury dioceses, along with an assorted collection of
Methodist and URC trainee-ministers. I was ordained in 2004.
Up to that time we had worshipped as a family together at St John's Blackheath for ten
years, but moved to Good Shepherd with St Peter in Lee after my
ordination..
We enjoy spending time together as a family. Yvette is learning to
play the guitar, is a fantastic organiser and pretty much wonderful at
whatever she puts her hand to (especially cakes...). I enjoy playing
the piano and singing, and discreetly follow the successes of West Ham
United.
[Hopefully Charlton Supporters will forgive this aberration - after all there's a lot to be discreet about. Ed]
