World Focus

This is our name for Mission: making Christ known in the world through word and action.  St Michael's is committed to mission through seven different channels: two Anglican agencies, three inter-denominational agencies, one African diocese, and one fund to enable church-to-church travel.

We express our commitment through regular prayer, through giving money, and helping people travel.

The channels we support are focused on making Christ known across the world, and often in places the world has forgotten, and this involves crossing cultures.

Stephen Hingston is the co-ordinator of World Focus.

Diocese of Western Tanganyika, Tanzania

Our connection comes from Gordon & Marion Chittleborough, who served there as Australian CMS missionaries from 1966. John Burden, architect and former member of St Michael's, helped design churches there. Teams from St Michael's have visited the diocese. Diocesan Bishop Gerard Mpango visits St Michael's frequently. Contact is Marion Chittleborough.

Travel Fund

This has two purposes: to enable St Michaels people to travel to visit and assist the church overseas, and to enable visitors from overseas churches to come here, both resulting in positive cross cultural learning.

In addition, we make a big effort each year to collect funds for Christian Aid Week, giving out envelopes to everyone who receives The Messenger.

We also assist London City Mission with the food collected at our Harvest Festival service each year.
