Pray now for those still in recovery - see below On Sunday 2nd January you contributed £1,393 which was taken personally to India on Tuesday 4th January to support the tsunami relief work of the Christian Medical College in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. Since then the total has risen above £2000 and the additional donations are going to other effective relief support. On 23rd January the collection went to CMS's tsunami relief work.CLICK
The UK Disaster Emergency Committee (www.dec.org.uk) has received £300 million from the public and a further £40 million has been received directly by its Members. This is a fund that will make a real difference, both saving lives in the short term and rebuilding communities and livelihoods over at least three years. The table below shows the allocation of the first £113m. The Members are in discussion with the Host governments, the UN and the local leadership to decide how the rest of the fund should be allocated and over what period. Some prayers you might wish to use:-

Merciful God, who in your great love and goodness hears the prayers of all your people and is ever-present with those who walk in the shadow of death: we hold in our prayers all who suffer loss and devastation in the wake of the tsunami disaster.
Comfort those who mourn.
Give hope to those whose hope has been taken away. Strengthen the will of people everywhere to generously give help and aid. Guide governments and agencies leading relief programmes.
For the sake of your Son, Jesus, who suffered and died for the life of the world.
Amen

Eternal God, who is a strong tower of defence to all who trust in you.
Look with mercy, we pray, on the peoples, communities and nations who have seen the jaws of death through the tsunami disaster.
May they find the comfort and peace that only you can give. May they sense your arms of love under and around them.
Grant to those who offer aid and relief the strength, will and resources they need. And show each of us how we can be an agent of your love and care.
