We are a Church of England Church in Blackheath, with a wide range of people of all ages and backgrounds. In all our services we aim to worship God through Jesus Christ and learn from the Bible together, because we believe it is the primary way in which God helps and guides us in our lives. There is a warmth and friendliness about the people of St Michael’s that often makes visitors want to stay and become part of things.
We are now back in our newly refurbished main church building following a year of works. Our principal service is at 10.30 am on a Sunday morning. There is a crèche for the under-3s and different groups for 3-6s, 7-11s and 11 -14s. Evening services at 6.30pm are smaller. Once a month there is a communion service according to the Book of Common Prayer at 9am. We have a number of home groups and a wide variety of different social events which draw our church community together. For more information consult our Values and Get Involved pages.

SMAG 6, the art show in church 14-23rd November, was a great success with 211 paintings displayed, giving local artists an opportunity to show their work, & also to use the church building for the wider community. Over 700 people visited over 10 days & a remarkable 63 pieces sold so that SMAG ART made over £3000. Local schools, Colfe’s, Riverston & Eltham participated & a large proportion of their work sold. SMAG 6 was raising money for both St M’s and the AFRIL Helping Hands Foodbank working with refugees in Lewisham so the bulk of the profits will be donated. Thank you to all who visited, all who bought & in particular the indefatigable team of helpers. We’re aiming for SMAG 7 in early summer 2020.
St Michael’s is considering subtly lighting parts of the church exterior which we think will show the building to its best advantage while also enriching the ambience of the immediate surroundings of the church. We obviously also want to ensure that the light design does not cause interference to any neighbouring buildings nor create any undesirable impact on the locality. It would be subtle lighting and on a timed system and on no later than 11pm. Greenwich Council has already given its permission and we are seeking additional permission from Southwark Diocese. If you have any questions or would like to contribute to the cost of the lighting, please contact the church office.
