World Focus

World Focus is our name for Mission: making Christ known in the world through word and action. St Michael’s is committed to mission primarily through five organisations, as shown below. The organisations we support are often working in places the world has forgotten. We express our commitment through regular prayer, through giving money, and by encouraging our members to deepen their awareness of the worldwide church and to cross cultures through travel overseas.

CMS (Church Mission Society) is an Anglican agency, working worldwide. The vision of CMS: committed to evangelistic mission, working to see our world transformed by the love of Jesus; looking forward to the day when the whole of creation is restored to a living, loving relationship with God; believing that by making disciples, resourcing leaders and transforming communities we make our unique contribution to God’s mission; doing this as a community that shares a longing to see all peoples being drawn into fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Our link missionary is Alison Giblett, doing drug rehabilitation work in Ukraine. Our church contact is John Clark, a former CMS missionary in Iran.

Crosslinks is an international mission society with its roots in the Bible, working largely within the worldwide Anglican Communion. The vision of Crosslinks: making Christ known through the teaching of God’s word in the power of the Holy Spirit, doing this by organising gospel partnerships across cultural boundaries. God’s word is the authority for all its work, therefore it is creative in mission and continually developing fresh ways of taking God’s word to God’s world. Our project partner is Ezechi Iwuagwu. Ezechi is the principal of Abuja Bible College in Nigeria, training church pastors and evangelists to teach and proclaim the gospel in an excellent way. Our church contact is Ann Patel.

 Bible Society

Bible Society exists because millions of people lack the Bible in a language they can understand, in a form they can use, or at a price they can afford. At the same time millions still have no understanding of the Bible’s value for them and their communities. The Society calls this Bible poverty. The vision of Bible Society: working to see a day when the Bible’s God-given revelation, inspiration and wisdom is shaping the lives of people and communities everywhere. Our church contact is David Harrison.

 OMF International

OMF (formerly Overseas Missionary Fellowship) is a Christian mission agency that serves the church and seeks to bring the gospel to the peoples of East Asia. It helps to place Christians to share the love of Christ with East Asians worldwide. It is looking for called, creative, committed co-workers to glorify God through the evangelisation of East Asia’s millions. OMF is a faith mission, relying on God to provide for its needs through prayer. It works in about 12 countries in East Asia, including China, Japan, and Thailand. Our church contact is Khai Vualnam.

 Greenwich Youth For Christ

Greenwich Youth for Christ is a dynamic and professional charity working with young people and families in South East London. It works in a multitude of different settings; in primary schools, in secondary schools, in churches, and on estates. It has strong links in the community and works in partnership with other organisations. Our church contact is Joe Crisp-Hihn, who is the Director of Greenwich Youth for Christ.
