Our PRISM church restoration project is complete! This has been a major project, taking 10 months, restoring, repairing and renewing vital external stonework and doing internal improvements with new heating & lighting plus better sightlines & access and redecoration. This has been a huge project costing £1,040,000. We have done a vast amount of fundraising, successfully applied for some grants – we are very grateful for generous grants given by: Allchurches Trust; Garfield Weston Foundation; Morden College (Dame Susan Morden Charity); Viridor Credits Environmental Company, and have also taken out £80k of 4 year loans (– so we are still fundraising to repay those). It is a very exciting time for St Michael’s even though it must be said we are rather weary from all the work & upheaval. We hope that we now have both a splendid historic Georgian building that preserves the best of the past, & a modern flexible space with state of the art sound, visual & lighting systems, & a large seating capacity. That combination of old and new we think is very exciting.
