Local original affordable art

SMAG ART LTD is a not for profit company, limited by guarantee, run entirely by volunteers, that has been set up to run art exhibitions at St Michael’s Church, Blackheath Park. The net proceeds from the exhibition are to be gifted to the PRISM Appeal of St Michael’s.

SMAG 6, the art show in church 14-23rd November, was a great success with 211 paintings displayed, giving local artists an opportunity to show their work, & also to use the church building for the wider community. Over 700 people visited over 10 days & a remarkable 63 pieces sold so that SMAG ART made over £3000. Local schools, Colfe’s, Riverston & Eltham participated & a large proportion of their work sold. SMAG 6 was raising money for both St M’s and the AFRIL Helping Hands Foodbank working with refugees in Lewisham so the bulk of the profits will be donated. Thank you to all who visited, all who bought & in particular the indefatigable team of helpers. We’re aiming for SMAG 7 in early summer 2020.

SMAG EXHIBITIONS, held at St Michael’s Church, Blackheath give an opportunity for artists (amateur and semi professional) to display their work in the dramatic setting of St Michael’s, Blackheath Park, a historic Grade II* listed building constructed 1828-30, known historically and locally as the Needle of Kent representing the boundary between the old London area and the County of Kent.

Artists have the opportunity to display their work in a beautiful setting with the possibility of selling their work to the public. Potential buyers can view the works in a comfortable setting at a number of exhibitions a year with an opening viewing night and then the gallery being open at the weekend and one evening a week.

There is an administrative charge of £5 per work and SMAG ART charges a commission on any paintings sold. All net proceeds are donated to the church appeal, PRISM and to a deserving charity decided upon prior to each exhibition.

If further information is required, including access to upcoming application forms and procedures, please contact Chris Ashworth or Tim Keeler.
